Two complementary roles

Meet David and Ben.

David Crawford, founder of Crawfords Computer Services

David Crawford

Founder · Workshop technician and software engineer

David provides onsite, phone and remote support as well as personally handling workshop repairs at Greenway. His work combines hands-on fault-finding with software engineering and experience administering business IT systems.

His involvement with computer technology began in 1981, with a background spanning electronics, programming and network administration. In 1997 he started Ozbill International, developing websites and software to process credit-card payments for subscription websites.

Alongside customer repairs, he develops Crawfords’ own IT systems. His server, network and hosting work dates from around 2020 and includes Microsoft Exchange and Windows Server administration, networking and virtualisation.

Ben Tassone, lead mobile technician at Crawfords

Ben Tassone

Lead mobile technician

Ben handles most onsite visits and remote support, helping customers at home and supporting small businesses with repairs, new computers, networks and point-of-sale systems.

Ben joined Crawfords in 2016 as its first employee and later managed the Mitchell shop after Greenway opened in 2019. Today, he remains our lead mobile technician.

His more than 25 years of commercial IT experience includes regional maintenance and repairs for Dell and larger companies, with work in data centres and on business computer systems.

How we work.

Our repair and broader IT experience shapes how we diagnose problems, explain the options and keep track of each job.

  • Thoughtful diagnosis

We investigate the problem and discuss the next steps with you.

  • Clear explanations

We explain what we find and the options in plain language.

  • Connected job records

Each job has a history we can refer back to.

Built behind the scenes, too

Software shaped around the work.

David continues to develop Crawfords’ own IT systems, which have been evolving since around 2017. Built around day-to-day repair work, they bring repair histories, parts and customer messages together.

Before he began using AI in 2025, David had already written around half a million lines of code developing those systems.

The story behind the spaces

How we got here.

2019–today · Greenway

Our Greenway shop, then and now.

Greenway is our only shop today, after Mitchell closed in 2022. It first opened as an additional shop in 2019, and both locations operated during those three years.

The build started with empty premises. Tradespeople built the internal structure and handled electrical and air-conditioning work. David planned the space and did the painting, flooring, cabinetry, data cabling and fit-out, with a friend helping paint.

2016–17 · Mitchell

Making room in Mitchell.

Before Greenway, Mitchell gave the business room for a shop and a larger workshop. These photographs follow the shop taking shape in 2016 and the workshop fit-out in 2017: framing, insulation, lighting, displays and purpose-built repair benches.

Those dates describe the photographed build. Mitchell continued operating alongside Greenway after the second shop opened in 2019, and closed in 2022. Ben took over as Mitchell store manager after Greenway opened.

The first dedicated Crawfords workshop was a shipping container. In 2014, David fitted it out for computer repairs, with solar panels, batteries, repair benches and storage.

It gave repairs a home base while mobile visits continued. The photographs follow the transformation from a bare steel shell to a bright, organised place to work.

Before the shops and the container, there was the caravan kitchen.

In 2012, David was making onsite visits and bringing repairs home to his caravan. He converted the dining table into a workbench, making the most of the space until the growing workload called for a dedicated workshop.
